Saint Giri Protests for Rape Case by Candle March

On the night of 16 December 2012, a paramedical student was gang raped in Delhi.The victim and her friend boarded a bus in South Delhi after watching a movie, when they were beaten by a group of six males, after which the female victim was raped. The victim is being treated at Safdarjang Hospital where she was on ventilator support for five days. The incident has generated widespread public anger and protests on Indian streets and international coverage.

Saint Giri students in the afternoon of 21 December Protested for the rape victim and against the Poor safety of women in the Capital with a Candle March on The Sir Chotu Ram Marg.

St. Giri Students Tied Rakhi To President.

The President of India Urges the Nation to Re-Double Efforts for the Protection and Welfare of Women on the Occasion of Raksha Bandhan The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has urged the people to re-double their efforts for the protection and welfare of women. The President was speaking at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, to mark the festival of Raksha Bandhan.





The President said, “The Rakhi is a thread of affection that sisters tie on the hands of their brothers. We must remember that this gesture is not a mere ritual, but a powerful act that obligates every man to ensure the safety and security of our women. I would like to call upon the nation to re-double efforts for the protection of women and their welfare. We must ensure that the women of our country feel safe and secure at all times.

All necessary steps must be taken to ensure that the full rights of women are protected. Abhorrent practices such as female foeticide and dowry deaths should be brought to an end. Further, the welfare of the girl child should be a priority.

May this festival be an occasion for all of us to pledge that we will dedicate ourselves to the wellbeing of the women of India, particularly the girl child”.

Students and children of various schools and social organizations from Delhi and adjoining areas participated in the function. The 40 students and children were from Pathways World School, Oasis Public School, Arya Gurukul, Lord Jesus Public School, Golden Bells Pre School, SOS Children’s Villages of India, Ashta Rehabilitation Society, Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Modern Public School, St. Giri Senior Secondary School, Thakkar Bapa Residential Primary School, Udgam Pre School, Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya, Buniyad Play School, DAV Public School, Kidzee Liliput Play School, Lady Florence Public School, Bharatiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad, Foundation Against Thallassaemia, Sapphire International School, RV Public School, Modern School and KR Mangalam World School. The students sang songs and recited poems as they interacted with the President and also tied Rakhis on him.

St Giri Won Under-15 Cricket Title

Sonnet Club clinch cricket title

New Delhi, December 24
Yogesh Nagar played a fine all-round role (58 and 3 for 25) and Rushil Bhaskar hit a strokeful 51 as Sonnet Club beat Ravindra Public School by 23 runs to win the first St Giri Under-15 cricket title at the Central School ground.

Rushil Bhaskar was adjudged the man of the match, Hemant Singh the best batsman and Pankaj Sethi the best bowler. Yogesh Nagar was named the man of the series.
Scores: Sonnet Club: 145 for 6 in 25 overs (Yogesh Nagar 51, Rushil Bhaskar 51, Vipul Gupta 3 for 18, Sunny Chandera 3 for 29).
Ravindra Public School: 122 for 8 in 25 overs (Pankaj Sethi 31, Yogesh Nagar 3 for 25, Manan Sharma 2 for 18).

Achrekar attends cricket camp

 

New Delhi, October 21, 2002
Aryavrat Sports Club, Rohini organised a cricket coaching camp from October 1 to 20 at the Central School, Sector and St. Giri School in Rohini. Thirty-five boys and one girl attended the camp. Former Indian wicket-keeper Eknath Solkar and Dronacharya award winning cricket coach Ramakanth Achrekar, better known as Sachin Tendulkar's coach, imparted valuable cricketing tips to the trainees. Achrekar was full of praise for the eager trainees and observed that given the right kind of coaching and exposure, many of the trainees were talented enough to play top grade cricket.

St. Giri School principal H U Giri promised all help in conducting more such camps in future. During the concluding function, Achrekar, A N Sharma, R S Dabas and Ravi Churi, who helped in the successful conduct of the camp, were honoured.
